Studio

A small studio, run like a workshop.

Brandcraftstudio is a collective of practitioners in Toronto. We write about the studio, not about personalities. There is no staff page here because the work is signed by the studio, and the pair on your job is named in the proposal, not on a poster.

Origin

Why we started in 2026

Brandcraftstudio was founded in 2026 because too many mid-sized Canadian companies were buying brand, web and media from three rooms that never sat in the same review. Colour drifted. Claims drifted. The printer received a file that had never seen the paper. We wanted a workshop where those jobs share a table and a calendar.

Starting in 2026 also means we will not invent a longer history. The studio is new. The craft is not: press checks, bilingual proofing, systems that a stranger can use. We opened on Richmond Street West so clients can walk to a proof, not only receive a link.

Organization

How we're organized

Work is staffed as a pair: one person on strategy and writing, one person on design and production. A single studio owner is named on the proposal and remains the voice you email. We do not rotate the account to keep juniors busy.

Once a week the studio puts work on the wall — or on a shared screen — and argues about it before the client sees it. Clients are invited to press checks and to staged-site walkthroughs. If a proof is happening in Mississauga or Montréal, we say so in the calendar and leave a chair.

Partners (photography, print, development, translation) are booked by the studio and briefed by the pair. You meet them when the work needs you in the room, not as a surprise CC.

Craft

What we believe about craft

Craft, for us, is material. A brand that only exists in RGB is half-made. We specify paper, ink, coating and the way a mark is cut, because those decisions change the drawing. If we cannot name the stock, we are not finished.

We proof on the device and in the light the work will meet: a fridge door, a phone on a sidewalk, a fluorescent grocery aisle, a projector in a sales meeting. A file that sings in the studio and dies on a bus shelter is not a finished file.

We build systems instead of one-off layouts. A campaign that cannot generate a sixth size without a designer in the room is a campaign we will rebuild. Guidelines are written for a busy Thursday, not for a ceremony.

Clients

Who we work with

Independent retail; food and drink producers; clinics and professional services; B2B software; cultural organizations. The useful size is a team that can still gather in one room and a budget that can fund production, not only slides. We are a poor fit for enterprises that need a vendor portal and a twelve-week procurement, and a poor fit for one-person launches that need a logo by Friday.

Budgets are spoken in ranges after listening, never as a public menu. If the work is a single landing page or a studio day, we will say so and price that, rather than wrap it in a retainer-sized story.

Richmond Street

Our studio on Richmond Street

Suite 320 at 401 Richmond Street West sits in a building that already hosts other workshops. Guests come for reviews, press-sheet sessions and the occasional quiet hour with a printed route on the table. The neighbourhood is walkable from Osgoode station; paid parking is available on Richmond. We do not run a public shop-front — write first so someone is here.

Hours are Mon–Thu 9:00–18:00, Fri 9:00–16:00 (ET). Closed weekends and statutory holidays. If you are travelling in, tell us in the brief so we do not book your visit against a press check out of town.

Access

Accessibility and language

Marketing work that people cannot read is unfinished. We design to a contrast standard, write alternative text into the asset list, and test keyboard paths on every site we build. Forms say what went wrong. Motion respects reduced-preference settings. We are not an accessibility audit firm; we are a studio that will not ship a palette we cannot defend.

English and French are both first-class. We plan character counts, legal lines and voice with partner writers so the French is not a squeeze. If only one language is in scope, we still leave room in the system for the other, because Canadian work often needs it later.
