Capabilities

Capabilities, described plainly.

Three practices share one studio: brand, campaign and growth. Below is what we actually make, who we bring in, and the work we will not take. If you need a single artefact — a guidelines PDF, a landing page, a transit run — say so in the brief; we will not pad it into a program you did not ask for.

Practice

Brand

Brand work at Brandcraftstudio is a system you can hand to a printer, a developer and a new hire without a translator. We write first, then draw, then specify. The files that leave the studio are meant to be used, not admired in a war room and abandoned.

Positioning and messaging

We interview the people who sell and the people who complain. The deliverable is a short document: who it is for, what it is instead of, the claims we will stand behind, and the lines we will not print. Sales can carry it into a call without a slide opera.

Naming support

We run naming as a structured search with knockout criteria (pronunciation in English and French, existing marks in Canada, domain hygiene). We do not sell a theatrical reveal. Legal clearance stays with your counsel; we prepare the shortlist they can actually search.

Visual identity systems

Marks, type, colour, grid and motion rules that survive a vinyl cutter and a mobile header. We design the lock-ups people will actually be asked for — favicon, truck, embroidered crest — not only the poster that looks good in a case study.

Packaging and print production

Dielines, copy hierarchy, finishes and press-ready art. We specify stock and coating for the shelf the product will live on, including cold and wet environments. When the run is large enough, we attend the press check.

Brand guidelines and asset libraries

A usable PDF and a folder structure a busy person can find. We include do-not examples from the real world, file-naming, and a list of who to call when a new format appears. Libraries are handed over in the tools the client already uses.

Practice

Campaign

Campaign work is how a system meets a date. We art-direct stills and motion, adapt into English and French, and build the kits that a store team can put up on a Tuesday morning without a production designer on site.

Campaign concepts and art direction

Two routes, each with copy, a stills plan and a production reality check. We pick one in a scheduled review. The chosen route is then drawn through every size the media plan actually bought — not a hero and a pile of unpaid stretch.

Photo and video direction

We write the shot list, hire partner crews and stay on set for the decisions that affect the brand. Production is co-ordinated with crews we already know in Toronto, Montréal and, when needed, Vancouver. Usage rights are written down before the first take.

Out-of-home and transit creative

Posters, transit and street furniture sized to the printers and the sight-lines. We design for glance distance and for the dirt a panel collects in February. Proofs go to the vendor the city actually uses, not to an ideal specification.

Bilingual adaptation (EN/FR)

French is planned at concept, not poured into leftover space. We work with partner translators and then proof the pair as two originals. Legal lines, prices and unit marks are checked against the English, not guessed.

Launch kits for retail and events

Counter cards, window vinyl, staff scripts and a packing list. If a kit needs an allen key and a prayer, we redesigned it. Event work includes a run-of-show the host can hold on a clipboard.

Practice

Growth

Growth here means the channels that carry the system after launch: the site, the ads, the emails, the listings and the monthly note that says what moved. We will not invent a dashboard that nobody in the room can read aloud.

Marketing websites (design and build)

Information architecture, writing, design and front-end build — WordPress or a static stack, depending on who will edit it. We test keyboard paths, contrast and the forms people actually submit. Hosting decisions stay with you unless you ask us to recommend a host.

Paid search and paid social programs

A media plan, creative variants and weekly hygiene. We set campaigns in Meta and Google Ads against a written objective, then report against that objective. We do not buy vanity placements to decorate a slide.

Email and lifecycle flows

Welcome, abandon, pause, renew — built in Klaviyo or Mailchimp, written in the brand voice. We keep the list of emails short enough that a person still opens them. Legal footers and unsubscribe behaviour are part of the build, not an afterthought.

Local search and store listings

Hours, photos, services and the sentences a neighbourhood search actually shows. We clean duplicates, write the Q&A you can stand behind, and leave you a checklist for the next seasonal change.

Measurement setup and monthly reporting

GA4, Looker Studio and a letter, not a 40-page appendix. We instrument the events that match the brief and ignore the rest. If a number cannot be explained, it is taken off the page until it can.

Bench

Tools and formats we work in

We pick tools for the people who will inherit the files. A Figma library is useless if the next campaign will be built in InDesign at the printer. We deliver press-ready PDF/X when ink is involved, and we leave editable sources when you have asked for them in the scope.

Partners

Where we bring in partners

Photographers, printers, developers and translators sit on a partner bench, not on a fictional org chart. Brandcraftstudio remains the single point of contact. The studio pair writes the brief for the partner, attends the key reviews and checks the files before they reach you. You are not asked to manage a second vendor relationship unless you want to hire them directly later.

We say who is in the room before a proposal is signed. If a job is mostly custom software, we will send you to a shop that lives there and stay on for the brand layer — or we will decline.

Limits

Not our work

We do not run PR crisis desks, lobbying, or public-affairs campaigns. We do not write medical or health claims that have not been checked by the clinicians who will sign them. We do not use grey growth methods, purchased traffic, or review inflation. If a brief needs any of that, we will say no in the first reply.

A page of capabilities is not a quote. Send the product, the deadline and the decision-owner. We will answer with a listening time or a referral.
