Toronto brand and marketing studio

We build brands that hold up in the real world.

Brandcraftstudio is a brand and marketing studio in Toronto. We work in small teams on positioning, identity, packaging, websites and the campaigns that carry them.

The collective

What the studio is

Brandcraftstudio opened in 2026 as a workshop for mid-sized Canadian companies that need brand and marketing work to sit on one table. We write, design and produce in-house, then bring in printers, photographers and developers when a job needs a specialist bench. The studio is small on purpose: one named owner on the client side, one named owner on ours.

We are not a holding-company network and we do not staff accounts with rotating juniors. A pair — strategy and craft — stays with the work from the first listening session through press checks and the live site. If we cannot see the job through, we will say so before a proposal is signed.

  • Founded in Toronto, 2026
  • Project and retainer work
  • Bilingual delivery: English and French copy co-ordinated with partner writers

Practices

Three practices, one table

Brand, campaign and growth share a calendar. Colour, type and claims stay consistent from a shelf talker to a landing page because the same pair proofs both.

Brand

Positioning, naming support, identity systems, packaging and the guidelines that keep a mark usable after launch.

Positioning and messaging

A written territory, proof points and the lines sales can actually say. We test the language with the people who meet customers, not only with the briefing team.

Identity systems

Marks, type, colour and layout rules built for print and screen. We specify paper, ink and file formats so production is not a second project.

Packaging and print

Structural layouts, dielines and press-ready art. We attend press checks when the run is large enough to justify the trip.

Campaign

Concepts, art direction and the kits that put a story into retail, transit and owned channels without breaking the system.

Concepts and art direction

Routes with copy, stills and a production plan. We choose the route with you after a structured review, not a hallway vote.

Out-of-home and launch kits

Transit, posters and in-store pieces sized for the printers we already know, plus the digital cousins that launch on the same day.

Bilingual adaptation

English and French treated as two originals. We plan character counts and legal lines before photography is booked.

Growth

Marketing websites, paid search and social, email flows and the monthly reporting that shows what actually moved.

Marketing websites

Design and build for WordPress or a static stack. We write the page map around decisions, not a catalogue of templates.

Paid programs

Search and social with a media plan, creative variants and a weekly hygiene pass. We will not invent attribution theatre.

Measurement

GA4, Looker Studio and a short monthly note. If a number cannot be explained in a sentence, it does not go on the slide.

Selected work

The engagements below describe the type of work we take on. Client names and performance figures are not published.

Food and drink · Hamilton

Cold-brew roaster, retail launch

A Hamilton roaster needed a shelf system that could travel from farmers’ markets into grocery without looking like a different brand. We rebuilt the pack architecture, wrote the tasting notes and produced a small launch kit for staff.

Deliverables included a six-SKU label system, a corrugated shipper, recipe cards and a one-page wholesale sell sheet.

Studio wall with a chalk planning diagram and a work desk

Health · Ottawa

Multi-site dental practice

An Ottawa group asked for a quieter voice and cleaner wayfinding across three neighbourhoods. We refreshed the mark, rewrote patient-facing pages and cleaned local listings so each clinic described the same services in the same words.

Deliverables included a messaging guide, exterior signage drawings, listing copy and a short photography brief for the waiting rooms.

Bright workroom with desks, a screen and a whiteboard

Travel · Whistler

Outdoor gear rental, seasonal campaign

A Whistler rental desk needed seasonal art that could swap by snow line and a booking page that did not drop mobile users. We art-directed the stills, rebuilt the booking flow and wrote the cancellation language in plain English.

Deliverables included campaign boards, a rebuilt booking page and a staff one-pager for the front desk.

Method

How a project runs

Five stages, one shared calendar. We do not start making until the brief is signed, and we do not call a file final until it has been proofed in the format it will live in.

Listening

A working session, a materials audit and conversations with sales or front-line staff. What you get: a brief we both sign off.

Mapping

Positioning, message territories and a map of contact points, ranked. What you get: a strategy document and a locked scope.

Making

Design routes, copy, prototypes and packaging layouts. What you get: two routes, one chosen.

Proofing

Press checks, test builds and English/French copy-edits. What you get: production-ready files.

Handover and care

Asset library, a short training session and thirty days of care. What you get: files you can keep using, plus an optional retainer.

Fit

What we need from a client

The work goes badly when nobody on the client side can decide, when photography is promised and never arrives, or when the production calendar is a wish. We ask for four things before we quote, because they determine whether a date on a wall is honest.

  • A clear decision-owner on the client side, with time in the calendar
  • Access to product data, existing photography and legal claims
  • A defined window for feedback — not an open Slack channel
  • A realistic production calendar, including print lead times

Notes

From the journal

14 February 2026

What a press check actually changes

Colour on a calibrated screen is a promise. Colour on a Heidelberg with this week’s paper stock is a fact. We still go to press checks because density, show-through and the way a varnish catches warehouse light do not show up in a PDF.

The useful change is rarely a redesign. It is a 4% curve, a swap of coating, or the decision to drop a hairline that will fill in.

9 April 2026

Packaging that survives a cold shelf

Condensation on a fridge door will lift the wrong laminate and fog a cheap white. If the product lives cold, we specify materials for wet hands and nightly wipe-downs, not for a studio still life.

We keep a small set of fridge-safe stocks and coatings on file with printers in the GTA and ask for a wet-rub test before a long run.

21 May 2026

A website brief is mostly about decisions

Page counts hide the real work: who approves a claim, which product is the default, what happens when inventory is gone. We write briefs as a list of decisions, then hang templates on that list.

If a stakeholder cannot answer those questions, we pause the build rather than invent a third information architecture.
